TIDAL Audio Room One 2025 by Marc Phillips. I’m usually cautious about attending off-site events during high-end audio shows, especially at a bustling show such as AXPONA. First, when I’m covering audio shows, running from room to room, it’s a very intense and focused exercise. I need to spend every minute of the day sitting in the sweet spot, asking questions, taking copious notes and requesting “Chocolate Chip Trip” over and over. For me to hop in an Uber and travel within a large city in the middle of the day exposes me to major time suckage. Second, I risk annoying the actual showrunners, who have asked me to attend for a very specific reason.

My sonic taste prefers accurate reproduction of the recording engineer’s efforts where instruments have tonality and texture. I frequent live concerts and, because I have musician friends who perform nationally and internationally, my need to play is suppressed.
