TIDAL Audio Room Three
TIDAL Audio Room Three by Marc Phillips. The biggest news for TIDAL was the presence of the new AP1 loudspeakers in TIDAL Audio Room Three, hosted by Ed DeVito of Audio-Ultra in Seattle. Jorn Janczak of TIDAL sat with me while I listened in this room, and he explained that the new active AP1 (starting at $198,000/pr, $208,000 with the upgraded finish) is actually a “more digestible” version of the TIDAL for Bugatti speakers that won our Product of the Year for 2023.
You may notice that the AP1s are only about half the cost of the Royale system speakers, and you might also notice that the AP1s are far larger as well. The unique enclosure of the Bugatti speaker contributes to its considerable cost, and it took a much larger and more conventional (or at least TIDAL Audio’s idea of conventional) enclosure to recreate the spirit of the more expensive transducer.

My sonic taste prefers accurate reproduction of the recording engineer’s efforts where instruments have tonality and texture.
